Skinny Dog Design Group, Inc. is a full service jewelry design and manufacturing facility.
Owned and operated by Jennifer and Scott Janiak-Ross, they named their studio after their 6 retired racing greyhounds.
Though only 1 greyhound remains, Elizabeth, she is ever present in the studio. Having relocated
from Chicago five years ago, the studio resides 3 blocks from the Pacific Ocean in Long Beach, CA.

Elizabeth, the Real Skinny Dog

Jennifer was trained traditionally as a fashion illustrator with a minor in graphic design.
Soon out of school, she was approached to be on the wave of young artists learning to use the computer
at the inception of computer graphics. Combining solid design and illustration skills with computer savvy,
she was a natural to be trained by the top CG companies (Adobe, Corel, Times Arts) to not only
be an end-user, but a certified trainer as well. Finding a niche in toy design, she has spent years
creating innovative products (See PORTFOLIO). She now heads-up the design and CAD/CAM department of SDDG,
building pieces from sketches and digital files. Her specialty is creating attractive pieces from
organic forms, artists concepts and corporate logos. (See CLIENT GALLERY)

Scott brings his 20 years of experience to the jewelry end to the business. Formally
schooled in jewelry by Lee Peck at Northern Illinois University, Scott has an obsession
for precision and fine detail. Working as a goldsmith for Jean Francois Albert, he cut his
teeth professionally by learning to work in the European discipline. Having a passion for lost
wax casting, Scott brings that European influence of perfection to every facet of workshop.

The design group is rounded out by a stable of master craftsmen, all of whom have spent
years honing the crafts in which they specialize.
